Running on borders.
Familiar and unfamiliar.
Classic and future.
Deepnight R&B and ambient synths.
Kitsuna’s music runs along borders. Cold synthesizers, hypnotic rhythms, cinematic arrangements, and through it all pervading themes of loneliness and self-reflection. Writing, recording, and producing all his music alone, Kitsuna considers it a challenge against himself to see how far he can stretch into the far corners of his abilities.
Attracted to many different styles of music and adverse to pigeonholing, Kitsuna’s music appears as a unique mosaic, glimmering with varying genres; something entirely his own. R&B and pop music from the '80s, jazz-fusion, soundtrack music, and even some OVO influences from his native Toronto can be heard in Kitsuna's music, creating a style that cannot be easily labelled, but is quickly identifiable in itself.
When not making music, the man behind Kitsuna (Sam Pomanti) is busy as a touring/session keyboardist and background vocalist, as a producer and songwriter with other artists, and recently as a short film composer. A person of many masks, Kitsuna is his creative playground devoid of rules.
As Sam Pomanti, he works with world-class acts, including extensive touring and recording with Canadian rock icon Kim Mitchell, performances with Scott Helman, Ed Sheeran, Richard Page of Mr. Mister fame, Ria Mae, Johnny Orlando, Nikki Yanofsky, and more. From 2019, he became a support member and touring keyboardist for B’z, one of Japan’s most influential and biggest selling bands of all time, and joined them on their 40-date 2019 arena summer tour. He also worked extensively on INABA/SALAS’s 2020 album Maximum Huavo (which debuted at #1 on Japan’s Billboard Hot Albums Chart), with pre-production programming, keyboard, and synth bass credits across the bulk of the album.
